The Care Certificate is an identified set of standards that health and care professionals adhere to in their daily working life. Designed with the non-regulated workforce in mind, the Care Certificate gives everyone the confidence that health and care professionals have the same introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to provide compassionate, safe and high-quality care and support in their own particular workplace setting. (NHS England 2024)
At Oxleas in collaboration with IPS International we support you to achieve a Level 2 and 3 Healthcare Support Worker, your main role is to work alongside healthcare professionals to deliver essential care to patients. You’ll play a key part in providing compassionate, high-quality support that makes a real difference to people’s lives.
Throughout the programme, you’ll also have the chance to boost your English and Maths skills. If you haven’t yet achieved a GCSE grade A-C (or Level 4-9)* in these subjects, you’ll be able to work towards Functional Skills qualifications, which are equivalent to GCSEs. This way, you’ll gain the communication and numeracy skills needed to thrive in your role and deliver the best possible care.
As a Student Nursing Associate (SNA), you’ll have the opportunity to learn about all areas of nursing: adult care, children’s health, mental health, and learning disabilities.
Your training will include:
Carrying out clinical tasks like taking blood samples (venepuncture) and performing ECGs
Offering support to individuals, families, and carers during difficult times, such as delivering challenging news or coping with life-changing diagnoses
Monitoring and recording important health details, like blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and pulse
Sharing updates with registered nurses about a patient’s condition, behaviour, activity, and responses
Ensuring that each person’s privacy, dignity, and safety are respected at all times
Recognizing and responding to safeguarding concerns for vulnerable children and adults
Your work as a Student Nursing Associate (SNA) will have a positive impact on the lives of those you care for, bringing comfort and stability during both routine and challenging moments.
This is a university course, and you will be held accountable to academic standards, and will work under the NMC code of conduct working towards NMC registration. You will earn money whilst doing your SNA training, and will remain in your substantive post.
