  • Welcome

Welcome to your preceptorship programme, on this page you will find a brief summary of your preceptorship journey. Please familarise yourself with the website and look through the content available to you at the top of your screen below the nursing education team logo.

  • Month One

Time to meet with your preceptor and make a plan. This may feel overwhelming for you both but don’t worry there is support. You should be completing your initial meeting, preceptorship agreement and local induction.

  • Month Three

You’re slowly getting used to your clinical area, now is a good time to do your SWOC analysis and start your competency documents. You should write an individual learning plan with your preceptor to tailor support to you.

  • Month Six

    Review time

This is a great time for reflection. What have you achieved so far? What are you missing? Meet with your preceptor and write your mid-point meeting.

  • Month Nine Sign-off

You did it – well done

Time to make sure you’re on track. You should be almost completed with your competency, reflections and final meeting with your preceptor.

  • Action Learning Sets

Now you’ve completed your main documents, you can focus on you and further developing into the nurse you want to be. Action Learning will help you with this process.
