  • Band 4 Education and Development Opportunities

  • This information is the options available to Band 4 nurses within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. All opportunities need to be confirmed with your line manager and the relevant trust policy must be followed.

  • Registered Band 4:

    Nursing Associates registered under the NMC 2018, and have under taken relevant Nursing Associate training at university.

  • Unregistered Band 4:

    Practitioners who are unregistered but are carrying out additional clinical skills and do not have a registration recognised by the NMC.

  • Nursing Preceptorship

    (Not available to Unregistered Nursing Staff)

    The Preceptorship programme has been designed for you as a newly registered nurse or nursing associate to assist you in your transition from student to nurse or nursing associate within Oxleas. The Preceptorship programme is designed to develop your professional skills to assist you in becoming a competent and confident practitioner.

  • Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship (Top Up)

    (Available to registered nursing associates and assistant practitioners only)

    By completing this programme you will be a registered nurse who can work in the public, independent and voluntary sector. Registered nurses are a statutorily regulated profession and the standards for proficiency are set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and successful completion of this apprenticeship will meet the education requirements to see registration with the NMC. This standard covers the NMC Standards for Proficiency and Annexes A & B for registered nurses and covers the four fields of practice that are adult, mental health, learning disability and child. (NMC 2018)

    This is a university course, and you will be held accountable to academic standards, and will work under the NMC code of conduct working towards NMC registration. You will work, earn and learn whilst doing the nurse apprenticeship training, and will remain in your substantive post being paid a salary.

    Apprenticeships

    It is a set of government approved requirements that employers use as a group (trailblazer group) to set the skills, knowledge, and behaviours of a specific occupation at a specific level.

    English and maths at level 1 or 2 are a mandatory requirement, sometimes other qualifications are included, up to Level 7 Masters.
