This competency document is designed to check you are working in line with the NMC Code of Conduct as a registered professional, as well as working to the standards expected of you here at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. Please ensure you read each competency in its entirety and ensure you understand all guidance outlined below:

Sections of the competency document are divided into registered nurse or nursing associate; this is to ensure we are practicing within our scope of practice.

The document can only be signed by an individual with at least 1 years’ experience in the work area, whom has successful completed a preceptorship programme.

Where competencies have not been met the individual’s line manager, preceptor and preceptorship team should be informed and an action plan to be developed.

Any individuals found to be fraudulently signing competencies will knowingly be breaching their NMC code of conduct and trust policy. This could result in Trust HR disciplinary action.

All information marked with a red star must be completed in its entirety for the document to be accepted.

When an action plan is required, please ensure SMART objectives are written out to support the preceptee. Please contact the Nurse Education Team (NET) for additional support.
